If you ask Paul Bischoff to name the highlight
of his athletic career, he would instantly reply “1952”: there were
so many memorable events for the Beaver Falls native that year that
he couldn’t omit anything. Paul was captain of the West Virginia
University football team as an end in 1952 and was elected to the
All Southern Conference team, the All American Academic team, and
the Paramount News All American team that season. He also was named
the amateur athlete of West Virginia in 1952 and was
elected president of the WVU student body, an honor he cherishes as
much as any athletic award. To top off his 1952 achievements,
Paul played his finest clutch game of the season when the
underdog Mounties upset Pitt, 16-0, at Pitt Stadium. Prior to his
college career, Paul earned
two football letters in three varsity seasons at Beaver Falls High
School and also lettered twice in basketball and once in baseball.
After his college playing days, Paul was an assistant football coach at Beaver High School from
1957 to 1962 and helped develop the strong Bobcat teams of those
years. He also served as an assistant grid coach at Geneva College
(1962-1963) before assuming duties as Student Center
director, Campus Programs chairman, and Placement Director. |
