If you are an avid Beaver County sports
fan and aren’t sure who Dave Cramer is, don’t be embarrassed. He
wouldn’t blame you. Rifle experts like Dave compete in almost
total obscurity and rarely are seen by local fans – or any other
fans for that matter. Dave earned his spot in the Beaver County
Sports Hall of Fame by virtue of 20 years of top flight rifle
marksmanship on the national and international level. He was the
National Rifle Association indoor champion in 1967 and again in 1977
in the conventional rifle class. He was a member of the US Army
Marksmanship Training Unit from 1968 to 1970 and was a member
of the Army Reserve International Rifle Team from 1970 for more than
15 years. He competed on several Army Reserve championship rifle
teams and among his tournament victories were winner of the
National High Power Rifle Championships at the National Trophy
Individual Match in 1972 and of the Winchester Trophy at the
National Championships at Camp Perry, Ohio, in 1980, in the
any sight individual class. Dave graduated from Homer City High
School in 1961 and was a member of the Indiana University of
Pennsylvania rifle team, graduating in 1965. He taught science and
biology at Hopewell High School and was coach of the Duquesne
University rifle team for more than 12 years.
