For 30 years, Ken Darroch has been winning
titles and honors in trapshooting. There weren’t just local club
events, but major league attractions. Ken was named All American no
less than seven times and was the youngest person ever inducted into
the Pennsylvania Trapshooting Hall of Fame. Ken made his first mark
in 1972, five years after he picked up his first shotgun. His first
title was the Pennsylvania State Sub Junior Singles Championship,
where he recorded a 194x200 score, including a perfect 100x100. Ken
was named to the state team in 1975. In the 1991 state meet Ken
scored a perfect 200x200 and won the Pennsylvania State Singles
Championship and was again named to the state team. In 1993 Ken
averaged a 94.38 success rate over 600 shots at the Pennsylvania
State Shoot and the following year set state record for Singles and
High Overall and scored a perfect 600x600. Pennsylvania honored him
with the title of Co-Trapshooter of the Year and another nomination
to the state team. Ken was also selected to the second team All
American and was designated captain of that unit. In 1995 he
was named captain of the state team and for second time led the
commonwealth in all three major categories (singles, doubles, and
high overall). In 2000 Ken became just the tenth person in state
history to complete the Grand Slam, which consists of winning the
Singles, Handicap, High All Around, and High Overall. He capped his
2001 season by winning the Pennsylvania High Overall for the eighth
time, the second best such mark in state history. Ken has shot in 16
different states, where he has also set numerous records. At the
time of his induction, Ken held eight Pennsylvania records and was named state team captain for seven of his eleven years on the
team. |
