As
a senior at Ambridge High School during the 1985 season, Hal Galupi
earned honorable mention All Conference honors as a quarterback,
then threw five touchdown passes in the 1986 Penn-Ohio State Line
Classic. He accepted a scholarship to Edinboro University and
developed into one of the most prolific passers in Fighting Scots’
history: Hal ranked second in career passing yards (5650), attempts
(706), completions (372), and touchdown passes (50). He ranked
second and third in passing yards in a season with 2,092 in 1990 and
1,911 in 1989, and set two of the Fighting Scots’ top five single
game passing marks: second with 351 yards in a 1990 game against
Indiana University of Pennsylvania and fifth with 299 yards against
California (PA). As a senior, Hal was named second team All
Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Conference and honorable mention
NCAA Division II All American. Hal suffered a fatal cardiac
arrhythmia attack while playing a game of slow pitch softball on
August 8, 2000. |
