While
at Midland’s Lincoln High School, George Green was most notable for
his participation in athletic events like football, track, and
basketball. He was a three year letterman in track. In George’s
senior year (1971), the football team went undefeated (10-0) but
missed the WPIAL playoffs due to the Gardner Point system; George
nevertheless received recognition as a first team Defensive MVP and
All State selection as middle linebacker. George went to Ohio
University on a basketball scholarship and received various honors
while majoring in business management. After college, George coached
5th and 6th grade girls’ Bantam basketball in Midland and was also a
member of the Midland Basketball Association and the Midland
Recreational Board. He also served as a school board director in
Midland and for the New Horizon School.
