Norma
Heinrich was an originator in Beaver Falls aquatics and recreation.
She was appointed director at the Beaver Falls recreation program in
1944 and instituted the Learn to Swim program that began with
children being given five days of instruction and then being bussed
to Monaca Pool for water safety instruction. A physical education
instructor at Beaver Falls High School, Norma also instituted
recreational programs for senior citizens. In April 1962 she was
presented with the State Honor Award of the Pennsylvania Recreation
Society and was also presented the Presidential Award of Sports and
Recreation in Washington DC by President John F Kennedy. The Morado swimming pool was named in her honor.
Norma died in 1963.
