Beaver County has a long standing tradition
of outstanding bowlers and Whitey Pucevich was one of the best. From 1974 to 1976, he was a member of the
Professional Bowlers Association Tour, where he won a regional title
in 1975 in New Jersey. He also participated in the 26th annual BPAA
All Star Tournament, where he won a superior Performance Award.
Sporting a lifetime average of nearly 200, he won many events
including Pennsylvania State doubles championship in 1985. Whitey
also placed second in the Steel Classic Tournament and has
bowled 26 sanctioned 700 plus sets and two non sanctioned 300 games.
He was the first bowler from the Aliquippa area to carry a 200 plus
average for a season. A member of ten league championships, Whitey
made numerous appearances on television bowling shows and in
addition won many Beaver Valley singles and all events
titles.
