Over
the years, Mike Warfield has led the Aliquippa Quips
football team as a player and as a head coach.
Raised in Aliquippa, PA, Mike earned multiple letters
at Aliquippa High School in basketball and football,
helping as a senior in 1987 lead his basketball team to
a WPIAL Championship and quarterbacking his football
team to a 7-2 record.
Mike earned a full football scholarship to Catawba
College in Salisbury, NC, where he graduated in 1991
with degrees in sociology and political science. Mike
quarterbacked the Catawba Indians in 1987, 1988, 1989,
and 1991, finishing second all-time at the school with
6,923 passing yards and 7,678 total yards. In 1987, Mike
was South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Freshman of the
Year, and in 1988, Mike made second-team All-SAC, with
his team winning the SAC Championship and qualifying for
the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
playoffs. In 1993, Mike played professionally for the
Hamburg Silver Eagles of the Germany International
League, and, in 2005, Mike was inducted into the Catawba
College Hall of Fame.
Mike graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police
Academy in 1994. He spent 25 years in the Pennsylvania
State Police Bureau of Drug Law Enforcement, serving 18
years as a Drug Enforcement Administration Federally
Deputized Task Force Officer. Mike earned numerous
awards, including BDLE Trooper of the Year, LEAD Awards,
and the Department of Justice U.S. Attorney's Office
Exemplary Service Award. In 2018, Mike retired from the
Pennsylvania State Police, and, in 2019, U.S. Attorney
Scott Brady appointed Mike as the Law Enforcement
Coordinator for the U.S. Attorney's Office in the
Western District of Pennsylvania. Mike stepped down from
his position with the Department of Justice, to become a
Regulatory Affairs Manager with McKesson
Pharmaceuticals.
In 2018, Mike became the first African American head
football coach for his alma mater, the Aliquippa Quips.
Mike became only the third coach in WPIAL history to win
both a WPIAL and PIAA Championship in his first year. In
2022, Mike led the Quips to their third Pennsylvania
WPIAL/District 7 Championship. In just five years under
Mike's leadership, the Quips have a combined record of
60-6, with five consecutive WPIAL Championship
appearances, winning three WPIAL Championships (2018,
2021, 2022) and two PIAA State Championships (2018,
2021). In 2019, Mike was named Pennsylvania Football
Writers 2018 Class AAA Coach of the Year, in 2021, Mike
was named PA Football Writers Class 4A Coach of the Year
and PAFootballNews.com Coaches Class 4A Coach of the
Year, and, in 2021 and 2022, Mike was named Beaver
County Times Coach of the Year.
Mike has been married to Victoria Warfield for 24
years, and they have three children: Deja', Jocelyn, and
Isiah. Mike lives in Center, works for McKesson
Pharmaceuticals, and coaches the Quips. |
