Arthur
Jason De Luigi lettered in football and baseball at
Beaver High School and in rugby and cheerleading at
George Washington University, but he has made his mark
in sports medicine. Jason was
valedictorian of Beaver High School in 1993, earned
undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry from
George Washington University in 1997, and earned a
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2001 from the
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he
earned a Master of Healthcare Administration degree in
2017.
Jason interned and had a residency at
the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and was twice
deployed as a battalion surgeon during Operation Iraqi
Freedom. Jason received numerous awards from the U.S.
Army, such as the Army Commendation Medal in 2007 and
2010 and the Bronze Star Medal in 2009. Jason was
medical director of the Army Ten Miler in 2009 and 2010
and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center Adaptive Sports
Medicine Program from 2009 to 2011.
Over his career, Jason has had
extensive involvement with professional sports teams,
serving as the head team physician for the NBA's
Washington Wizards (2014-18) and as physician for the
D.C. United Major League Soccer club (2011-18), MLB's
Washington Nationals (2012-17), the Washington Spirit of
the National Women's Soccer League (2013-18), the WNBA's
Washington Mystics (2015-18), and the Phoenix Rising FC
Major League Soccer club (2018-present).
Jason has served as physician for the
University of Utah football, basketball, hockey, rugby
teams (2007-08), USA Boxing (2007-present), the Salt
Lake Bees Minor League Baseball team (2007-08), the
United States Olympic Committee (2008-present), the U.S.
Ski and Snowboard Association (2008-present), USA
Basketball (2010-11), USA Lacrosse (2012-18), and Team
USA at the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia (2014). Jason
served as head team physician for all 19 NCAA sports
teams for Catholic University (2014-17) and provided
medical coverage for the Paralympic athletes at the
United States Olympic Training Center in 2011.
Jason served as co-medical director of
the Salt Lake Marathon (2008), medical director and head
team physician of the U.S. Adaptive Alpine Ski Team and
Para-Snowboarding Team (2010-present), co-medical
director of the Racing the Planet Atacama Desert and
Gobi Desert Races (2011), and as a member of the NBA
Concussion Committee (2014-18).
Jason currently is chair of the
Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and
Director of Sports Medicine for the Mayo Clinic in
Arizona, is editor-in-chief of the Alternative &
Integrative Medicine medical journal, and has
appointments at Georgetown University School of Medicine
and the Uniformed Services University of Health
Sciences.
Jason lives in Scottsdale, AZ, with
his wife Beata, his son Oscar, and his daughter Cyan. |
